Jin Wei Poised For More Highs In Asean Schools Games

KUALA LUMPUR: Shutler Goh Jin Wei is in the running for two gold medals in the 7th Asean Schools Games in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei.
The 15-year-old Jin Wei, bouyed by winning her first world junior title in Peru last week, has checked into the semi-finals of the girls’ singles and doubles events.
In the girls’ singles, she defeated Jaslyn Hooi Yue Hann of Singapore 21-15, 21-14 to set up a semi-final meeting with Thailand’s Laksika Kanlaha.
Jin Wei-Anna Cheong Ching Yik then beat Jellene Geviane De Vera-Kate Tating of the Philippines 21-5, 21-7 to set up a last four clash against top seeds Syifa Fauziah-Zarra Faza Azka of Indonesia in the girls’ doubles.
Jin Wei and her team-mates settled for the bronze medal after losing 2-3 to Indonesia in the semi-finals of the team event on Tuesday.
